This thing is like a missile launcher. My 10 month old seemed to like it, but the balls fly out of it several feet in the air and generally never make it back into the tray to reloop. We actually thought it was hilarious how the balls launch out of this thing, but as a toy for a baby, maybe not so funny. I can't imagine that the soft balls could hurt, but this toy just does not do what it is intended to do. My 3-yr-old son got this for Christmas. It has been a big hit and fun for him to play alone or with someone else. My 5-yr-old and 7-yr-old sons and even my husband think it's fun to play it with the little guy. The only problem is that occasionally the teeth get stuck or the top pops off. The concept of this game is a lot of fun, but the rings are small. My eight year old received it as a birthday gift. She wears a size 1 shoe, so she has pretty tiny feet for her age, and the rings were too small. They are hard and durable, but hurt your feet if you are barefoot. I really like this version of monopoly. The Spongebob theme makes gameplay exciting. I can't say that I have ever watched an entire episode of spongebob -- I don't even watch TV -- but I get a kick out of the craziness of spongebob.

Instead of dollars you use clams. It's still just paper monopoly money but I actually prefer the paper money to the electronic banking edition. I can see how it would slow game play if you have to wait for young ones to count money but I think children learning to count money is more important than a fast game any day. Playing with people in my age group (mid 20's), the paper money doesn't really slow us down. There is also a little rack in which to sort the money which is very nice.

The spaces on the board (with the exception of the corner spaces) have new and exciting names. I'm always battling for ownership of the Weiner Hut. The life preserver (chance) and treasure chest cards have the same effects as in the original monopoly but again are in the style of spongebob.

The game pieces in this set are amazing. All of the main spongebob characters are there. The pieces are LARGE and durable as opposed to some versions of monopoly. The Pineapple Houses (houses) and Krusty Crab Restaurants (hotels) are plastic but seem durable and add to the overall theme.

I really enjoy the plankton coin rule. When my girlfriend and I play it, we use the rule that when you land on a property with the coin you either 1) get the property for free or 2) pay twice the rent BUT we don't use the rule that the game ends when the coin reaches go. When it's only the two of us playing, the game is always over before the coin makes it all the way around anyway.

The game board is the only downfall in this version of monopoly. The board itself is beautiful but it is folded in four (half and then half again). This leaves a fault line down one half of the board which is a pain if you are not playing on a level surface. I'm also worried about the longevity of the board with all of its creases.

This game is so not worth the money. It is flimsy and does not even work well. The cardboard is thin, as noted by another reviewer, and the "spinner" does not spin at all. I purchsed this game 2 years ago for my 15 year old daughter and we just love it. Santa brought this guy last year and it certainly can take a beating! What was a bunch of fun for the boys was to run outside with it and play in the snow! I don't think the makers of this game played it before putting it on the market. If they had, they would have seen it is almost impossible to not lose your house points (and lose the game) before you find out the answers. You are constantly losing 15 points at a time, starting with only 60 or 70 and no way to get more. You spend all your turns trying to get on the stars so you will get help against the curses. What happens is people lose their points very, very fast but still have to continue to show their cards to the opponeents for a very long time, which isn't fun for ANYONE. The Boutique Edition of Monopoly is cute, and it's perfect for girls. When they outgrow the pink game after moving through the pink phase of their lives . . . if they ever do . . . they can keep the game for a unique collector's item. There is only one problem though: it can be obtained in local stores for less money. I suppose if you have to travel very far to a store to buy it, pay sales tax, and then pay to mail it to a friend out of town, you cannot beat this deal. I just got this in the mail from Target who apparently has dropped the product. Since the price more than doubled over the weekend, it seems this item has become a limited piece.
Stratego is a classic game and this edition is a fine reproduction. My wife tells me the board, with two lakes and a river, isnt of the original vintage. The materials seem to be very quality, and the "library" container makes the game really stand out. The first one I received fell into pieces as I took it out of the clam shell package for the first time. One of the center cubes broke off of the inner support just by opening it from the package. It appears to have been a manufacturing defect. I received a replacement.

The 2nd cube's stickers started to peel off after a few hours of use. Very annoying.

The center white cube has a RUBIK's Cube logo which is a complete eye sore. Everyone knows it's a Rubik's cube, why do I need an advertisement on the cube??? It really takes away from the aesthetics of the cube. It makes me want to buy an off brand just to not have the ad there.

Other than that, it is what it is. It's not educational. The overwhelming vast majority of us can only "learn" how to solve it by having the solution and practicing it. Anyone who claims to figure it out by themselves is full of it. I do not recommend this for children - buy them a hand held video game which will provide greater mental exercise.

I am 33 years old and this game makes me feel like a little boy again!
I love to build the board and have battles and come up with new ways to make it even more fun. I have got to buy the Master set now and a couple castles so I can have some even more fun. This is like a short and small version of the other 2 master sets. You combine this with them and you can play for a long time and make some even more awesome landscapes. I never had this much fun with any board game before. It is more fun than most video games. It reminded me of X-Men Legends and Marvel Ultimate Allience series combined with other rpg computer games. I gave this to my two year old great niece for Christmas who will be three January 4th and she could not wait to see what it was. She liked using the key to open the doors...little trouble pushing down on the key to open the doors but finally got the hang of it and loved it when the treasure chest opened which was a good surprise for her. She is learning her numbers and shapes...very educational. She liked the balls that she would find in some of the boxes. We asked her who gave her the game and she mentioned my name so that was letting us know she has a good memory considering all the gifts that she received. As a minor board game fan, I never really felt compelled to actually purchase board games until Hasbro finally got the wonderful idea to put together a handful of their favorite games in "nostalgia" packaging in a wonderful wooden box! Finally there are board minds I don't mind owning, playing, and most importantly displaying.

Most of the games in the "Library" set have minor problems like board size or piece size, but all in all these games are a perfect addition to any classy front room. Scrabble, however, is without any real changes or problems at all. The board is full size, the tiles have no problems staying on the board when it's on a flat surface, and the board creases don't really mess anything up. The ONLY problem I have with this set is that the wooden box that the game comes in does not have the little magnet that keeps the lid from sliding out when taking out the game! It's hardly even a gripe at all, but when all the other ones have it and this one doesn't it makes you wonder what the hell happened over at Hasbro. Also, you might want to buy these games in person; for some reason the gold lettering on the spine of the "books" tends to be in varying conditions (some are faded, some are greenish). Go for the gold!

Regardless, Scrabble (much like the games in the whole set) is a wonderful game and this set is absolutely worth buying. Keep the cheapo paper box version for the kids, and put this up in the bookshelf for visitors over 10. You won't be disappointed.Get more detail about Library Scrabble Game Set.

I purchased this for my son when he was 10yo. He is now 11yo and takes it with him on all his road trips to play in the motels. It's compact, so he can take it with him. He loves the action,a nd it's great on a rainy day to let some of his energy out. Educational by teaching reflexes and hand eye coordination. Very good toy! Worth every penny of it! :)
