Ordered this for my 4 year old son (almost five) for Christmas, and it is a hit! Gameplay is pretty simple and could be appropriate for kids as young as 4 depending upon their maturity and ability - necessary skills include counting, taking turns, following instructions, and not getting upset when others smash your playing pieces! Each player makes his or her playing pieces using the included playdoh and mold, which is fun in and of itself. The board uses a simple layout of colored playing spaces set along a winding one-way path around the board. Cardboard buildings are set along the path at specified intervals. The object of the game is to be the first player to navigate two playing pieces from the starting space to the finish line. Players roll two dice with numbered sides that also have a couple of Hulk "fist" sides which allow the player to pick up a "smash" card. Numbers determine how many spaces the player moves, and the smash cards instruct the player to smash certain playing pieces. Sometimes the player is permitted to choose which playing pieces to smash, other times the cards dictate the results. It is great fun to smash the pieces, and sometimes you even have to smash your own pieces! During the game players make new pieces to replaces ones that have been destroyed and the smashed ones stay on the board - by the end of the game the visible carnage of flattened playdoh is a real hoot. Hulk Smash is surprisingly fun for both kids and their parents and would make a great game to transition kids from the simplest games like Candyland or Hi Ho Cherry O to more complex games.Get more detail about Hulk Smash.
